Today, 27 April 2013, Learn Nepali Programme (LNP) in Charlton, London launched with a bang. Angela KC, the excellent result achiever in recent GCSE examinations inaugurated the programme by cutting ribbon together with Mr Suraj KC, the Chairperson of Charlton Nepali Samaj UK (CNSUK) by lighting a lamp. In Nepal, functions or a good cause is usually inaugurated by lighting of lamp because lighting Lamp is an auspicious sign, signifying spread of warmth and light of knowledge.
Pandit Komal Prasad Luitel form Pashupatinath Temple, London started the programme with traditional opening prayers including Shwaraswoti puja, followed by Nepali National Antham.
Advisor of the community and Chairperson of Pashupatinath Temple, Mr Homnath Sharma presented Certificates of Appreciations for coordinator and volunteers of the programme. Suraj KC, the Chair presented the certificates to the donors. Total donation of £2123.00 raised in aid of the Learn Nepali Programme and further donations are being contributed. The General Secretary of CNSUK, Mr Resham Aryal felicitated the programme. Mr Aryal also played significant role in children enrolment to the programme.At the induction each enrolled children were provided with a start-up pack and refreshments. The start-up packs were donated by Neem Tree Pharmacy. The LNP brand strategy, conceptualisation, implementation and printing of various promotional materials and Appreciation Certificates were donated by Communia Global.
Mr Fatta Thapa, the advisor of CNSUK spoke about LNP, highlighting importance of the programme. He also explained the admissions and administration policy in regards to Learn Nepali Programme.
The Chairperson Mr Suraj KC ended the programme by thanking everyone who worked hard to bring Learn Nepal Programme to this stage. He especially thanked Anita KC, Sobha Sharma-Kandel and Sonia Thapa for their path breaking initiatives and excellent coordination to the Programme. He also thanked volunteers, Bandana Katuwal, Renu Pandey, Chunta Gurung, Pashakanta Resmi, Simrita Shrestha and Ganga Rana for their efforts and contribution towards the start-up of the programme.
The Learn Nepali Programme (LNP) is a brainchild of three ladies of Charlton Nepali Samaj UK, Anita, Sobha and Sonia who initiated and formulated the whole concept. The entire Charlton Nepali community is excited about the programme and they believe that this will contribute in passing down the traditions of Nepali culture, religion, social and rich family values to the next generation.
In the programme, there were approximately 100 people, including the children.
